Home-field advantage could give North-east the edge in next

week's Scottish area team championship at Newmachar

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
North-east District, second top match-play qualifiers and beaten 3-2 in the semi-finals by eventual champions Lanarkshire last year at Dalmahoy, will fancy their chances of winning the Scottish men's area team championship with home field advantage next week.
Newmachar Golf Club's Hawkshill course hosts the three-day, 16 teams-of-six  event from Friday to Sunday, September 8 to 10.
Lothians, on paper the strongest district in the country and perennial favourites for the title, have completed their line-up by naming Stuart Blair (Royal Musselburgh) as their sixth player. Earlier the intention was to wait until this weekend's South-east District Open at Musselburgh before making a decision.
