CLARK, MOULTRIE BATTLE TO SHARE SENIOR
LEAD IN THE WEST

The first round of the Scottish Seniors Golfing Society's West of Scotland open was played in very wet and windy conditions at West Kilbride today (Thu).
Ronnie Clark (Erskine) and Paul Moultrie (Royal Troon) shot level par 71s to lead by two shots from Gary Tough (Edzell), Gary Cochrane (Irvine Ravenspark),Ian Brotherston (Dumfries and County), David Shields (Glenearn) and Phil Dempsey (Tulliallan).

Ronnie Clark (Erskine) and Paul Moultrie (Royal Troon) shot level par 71s to lead by two shots from Gary Tough (Edzell), Gary Cochrane (Irvine Ravenspark),Ian Brotherston (Dumfries and County), David Shields (Glenearn) and Phil Dempsey (Tulliallan).
Clark birdied the first, fourth, 11th and 14th but bogeys at the 10th and 15th, along with a double bogey at the seventh meant that he finished on level par 71.
Moultrie birdied the ninth, 11th and 15th, but bogeyed the 10th, 12th and 17th.
Phil Dempsey (Tulliallan), playing off four, leads the handicap section with a net 69.
He is one shot ahead of Gary Cochrane (Irvine Ravenspark) (3), with Ian Angus (Duff House Royal) (2) and John Johnston (Lanark) (2) a further shot behind.
The CSS was 74 (R/O).
Phil Dempsey (Tulliallan), playing off four, leads the handicap section with a net 69.
He is one shot ahead of Gary Cochrane (Irvine Ravenspark) (3), with Ian Angus (Duff House Royal) (2) and John Johnston (Lanark) (2) a further shot behind.
