Calum Fyfe (Cawder), the Glasgow Golf Union stroke-play champion, won the weekend's West of Scotland stroke play championship at Dullatur.
Colin Edgar (Elderslie), who is not in the top 5,000 of the World Rankings, finished second, only a shot behind Fyfe (ranked No 311), who had scores of 70 and 71 for one-over-par 141.
Edgar, joint first-round leader with a 69, added a 73 for 142.
Key hole in Syme's victory was the par-4 14th in the second round. He had an eagle 2 there in an inward half of 33.
Paul Gault (Haggs Castle), with scores of 75 and 69 (the best second-round score), finished third on 144.
Gault, by the way, is No 3322 in the World Rankings!
