James Byrne misses cut in Malaysia after second-round 78

NEWS RELEASE
Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia, January 19: Overnight leader Martin Dive of Australia battled to a level par 72 to hold a one-shot halfway lead at the PGM CCM Seriemas Championship here on Thursday.
After opening with a superb 64, the 31-year-old found the going tough in the Asian Development Tour tournament as he traded two birdies against as many bogeys to cling on to his lead with a two-day score of eight-under-par 136.
Thailand’s Nittithorn Thippong carded one of the day’s best rounds with a 67 which included six birdies as he stayed one shot behind the leader with two rounds to play in what is the season-opening tournament for the 2017 ADT campaign.
American Brett Munson (pictured) ended the second round in third place, two behind Dive, following a fine 67 as well while one-time Asian Tour winner Steve Lewton of England shot a 72 to leave himself three shots behind the lead.
The best placed Malaysian was Arie Irawan, who carded a 69 to share fifth place with amongst other American John Catlin, Peter Lansburgh and Finland’s Janne Kaske.
Scotland's James Byrne missed the cut by three strokes with rounds of 71 and 78 for 149. He had four double bogeys over his first 27 holes, including a 5 at the short sixth and a 6 at the par-4 eighth in an outward half of 43 today.
