Knox finishes third in US PGA Tour event,
earns $476,000; $140,000 for Laird (T13)



Russell Knox, the world-ranked Scot whom Darren Clarke did not think a good enough player to give him a wild-card place in the Ryder Cup match, produced another outstanding performance on the US PGA Tour in Mexico today.

The Jacksonville, Florida-based man from Inverness finished third in the OHL Classic at Mayakoba.
Knox, pictured, shot rounds of 68, 65, 67 and 66 for 18-under-par 266. The Scot earned $476,000.
Pat Perez, scoring his first US Tour win since 2009 shot 68, 66, 62 and 67 for 21 under 263.
He won by two shots from long-time leader Gary Woodland (64-65-66-70).
Martin Laird was a second Scot in the top 15. He finished T13 on 271 (68-67-66-70) and earned $140,000.
