Colorado University fourth-year student Esther Lee did something Monday that only one USA women’s college golfer had done before.
Lee carded a 61 to tie Mariah Stackhouse’s NCAA women’s golf record.

Lee’s score came on the par-72, 6,317-yard University of New Mexico Championship Golf Course in Albuquerque, New Mesico. She started her round on the par-4 17th hole and birdied her opening three holes. Her 11th and final birdie came on her last hole, the par-3 16th.
Lee is from Los Alamitos, California, and transferred to Colorado from Duke following her freshman year.
Stackhouse carded her 61 as a Stanford freshman at the 2013 Peg Barnard Invitational.
Duke’s Liz Janangelo is next on the list with a 62. Pepperdine’s Grace Na and Katherine Hull, and Arkansas’ Emily Tubert each shot 63 during their college careers.
