Holmes, Reed and Stricker bound for Castle

Stuart as a warm-up for Open at Troon

FROM GOLF.COM
The  Open at Royal Troon  does not tee off until July 14, but American players are already thinking about playing links golf.
J B Holmes, Patrick Reed and Steve Stricker are all late additions to the field at the Scottish Open, set to take place next week at Castle Stuart. Per usual, the event is held one week prior to the Open, allowing many Tour pros to play the Scottish Open to help transform their game and mentality from the courses they see on the US PGA Tour to links golf.
The addition of those three Americans will help the strength of field as defending champion Rickie Fowler will not take part, citing scheduling issues. With Reed (ranked 13th), Holmes (21) and Stricker joining the field, it is now set up to be the strongest European Tour field of the year.
