Cruden Bay's Roger leads by 2 in Scottish

youths championship

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Cruden Bay's Stephen Roger shot the low round of the day - a four-under-par 67 to jump into a two-stroke lead with 36 holes to play on Wednesday in the Scottish youths open amateur championship over the Fittocks course at Fairmont St Andrews.
Roger birdied the first, fifth and eighth on his way to an outward half of 33. A birdie at the 10th put him four under for the day but he dropped his only shot of the round at the 15th.
However, a 2 at the short 16th took him back on course for a 67 and a 36-hoe tally of four-under 138.
He leads from Rory Franssen (Inverness) and English challenger Christopher Handy (South Moor).
Franssen's birdies at the first, 11th and 13th put him level with Roger but he bogeyed the 15th and 17th to fall back into a share of second place.
