Scots start well in Lancashire

Gibson and Syme well placed in top seven at 

Lytham Trophy

Scott Gibson (Southerness) and Drumoig's Connor Syme are in the leading seven players at the end of the first day of the presigitous four-round Lytham Trophy at Royal Lytham and St Annes Golf Club, Lancashire.
Gibson shot a one-over-par 71 to be lying third, two shots behind leader Jamie Li (Bath), whose 69 was the only sub-par round of the day,  and one behind Stirling student Mathias Eggenberger from Switzerland.
Syme returned a  72 for a share of fourth place.
