James Steven leads the Scots on Algarve Pro 

Tour, one off the pace in second place

Blantyre-born James Steven, a former Lanarkshire boy champion who played out of Bothwell Castle GC as an amateur, shot a five-under-par 67 to be lying second, one off the pace, at the end of the first round in the latest Algarve Pro Tour over 36 holes at the Palmares course, near Lagos.

Next best Scots were Jordan McColl and Jay Taylor, joint 11th on 70. 
Craig Lawrie had a 71 to be tied 15th while Greig Hutcheon, who almost won over the same course on Saturday, had a disappointing roun of 75, the same mark as fellow Aberdonian Scott Henderson. They are joint 30th in a field of 37 players.
