Eagle finish flies Ferguson into a share of 

third-round lead in South Africa

Bearsden's Ewen Fergsuon produced an eagle 3 at the last hole to share the lead with home hope Jason Smith with one round to go in the South African men's amateur golf championship at Blue Valley Golf and Country Estate.

Ferguson, pictured, who birdied five of his first eight holes in an outward 32, came off the boil with bogeys at the ninth, 11th and 16th.
With Smith birdieing the 17th and 18th for a 67 and a 17-under-par tally of 199, Ferguson dug deep to get an eagle 3 at the par-5 18th for a 68 to to share the 54-hole lead.
They are one stroke ahead of Irishman Stuart Grehan from Tullamore who had a 68 for 200.
Bob MacIntyre and Scott Gibson are tied ninth on nine-under 207, the Scottish amateur champion posting a two-under 70 while Gibson had a 67.
Former Scottish champion Grant Forrest and Connor Syme are joint 17th on 208. Forrest had a triple bogey 7 at the 11th in a round of 72, the same score as Syme.
Nairn youngster Sandy Scot, despite bogeying the 15th and 16th, shot a one-under 71 for the second day in a row and is T25 on seven-under 209.
Craig Ross is T30 on 210 after a 71 while Jamie Savage, the last of the Scottish qualifiers for the final two rounds, shot his best yet, a 69 to be T34 on 211.
