Portlethen's Sam Kiloh is one of the few to get round twice with scores of 77-74 for 151, the forecast limit mark for qualifying to contest the third round - if there is one.
Ted Innes-Ker retired after a nine-hole score of 46, including a 10, on Thursday.

SCOTT BORROWMAN TALKS ABOUT HIS PRO

 DEBUT VICTORY IN EGYPT

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Colin@scottishgolfview.com
Not many rookies win a tournament on their pro tour debut. Dollar's Scott Borrowman joined the elite club earlier this week when he won on the new PGA Mediterranean Tour at a Cairo, Egypt venue.
It's not as well known as most of the mini-tours around so how did  Scott track it down?
" I found out about it from one of the tournament directors who contacted me after the Second Stage of the European Tour School last  November," he said.
"I am here for three weeks and return on March 20.
"I won 4350 euros and  the total 30,000 euros purse is the same for the next event. The 'Tour Final' has a purse of 55,000 euros. I am playing next from March 10 to 12 at Palm hills in Cairo and the tour final is March 17 to 19 at Katameya Dunes, Cairo.
"I won the three man play-off with a par. It was a long par 4 and I hit driver then a 4 iron into the back bunker ( not a good miss). My  my fellow competitors, H P Bacher (Austria) and Spain's Xavi Puig, were in better shape than me.
"One was on the green at 40ft the other just short. Both chipped/putted up to 7/6 feet respectively and I hit a good shot to 18ft. My bunker shot was straight downhill down grain on firm greens so 18ft was quite good. I was first to putt and had a uphill left to right putt and thankfully slotted it in at nice pace while the others missed.
"I would like to thank my coach Gregor Monks who has worked tirelessly with me over the last six months and helped me make massive strides with my game. I would also like to thank Graeme Leslie who has been working with me on my putting and it is clear both have had a big influence on my game."

Perth player 12 under par for 30 holes of final

DAZZLING DANNY  YOUNG WINS SOUTH AFRICAN TITLE

Daniel Young (Craigie Hill) is the new South African amateur champion.
The 23-year-old from Perth produced a dazzling 12-under-par display to outclass the country's Jovan Rebula, a 17-year-old, 8 and 6 in the 36-hole final at Silver Lakes Golf Resort, Tshwane today.
Young was three up after nine holes and after have his lead cut to one pulled away again to re-establish a three-hole advantage at the end of the first round.
The 23-year-old Scot, who played the American college circuit with success for four years as a student at Lynn University, Boca Raton, had a tremendous bag of one eagle and seven birdies with only two bogeys in the morning round.
In the afternoon, Young's brilliant play continued. He birdied the 22nd to go four up. Lost the 23rd but then birdied the 24th, 25th and 28th to go six up.
He won the 29th with a par and finished the match off in style with a birdie at the 30th for an 8 and 6 triumph.
Many competitors play their best golf getting to a final and then the quality of their play comes down a peg or two. But not so with Young.
He played very well to get to the final - and then he moved up yet another gear.
In all he had one eagle, 13 birdies and three bogeys over the course of the 30-hole final. That means he was a brilliant 12 under par for the holes played.
Young had the joint third best qualifying aggregate over 36 holes and started the match-play as the fourth seed. Rebula, rated a very good prospect in South Africa, was 50th of the 64 qualifiers but he was outclassed in the final. But no disgrace to lose 8 and 6 to an opponent very much on song with a 12-under-par performance.
BIGGEST WIN OF CAREER
Later, Young  hailed his victory as the pinnacle of his career todate. It was the third win by a Scottish p;layer in the last five years of South African's premier amateur championship..
The last Scot standing was thrilled to follow in the footsteps of compatriots Michael Stewart and Brian Soutar, who triumphed in 2011 and 2012 respectively, and humbled to add his name to the marquee list of champions that includes Ernie Els, Retief Goosen and Trevor Immelman.
“This is massive; the biggest win of my career so far,” the Perthshire player said.
“I've won a few tournaments before, but this is by far the biggest win. You look at the trophy and there are some massive, massive names on it. To get my name alongside them is great. It speaks volumes for how I played this week.

“I felt really confident on the course.
“I had a really strong game plan and I executed it very well. The putt on six was crucial, and I fancied it. I hit a great putt and it went right in the middle. I had to scramble a bit for a four on eight and I holed a nice putt up the hill on nine.”

SCOTLAND'S GOLF CLUBS BACK PROPOSED

SGU-SLGA MERGER IN INDEPENDENT POLL

SGU NEWS RELEASE
Scotland’s golf clubs have overwhelmingly backed the Proposal to amalgamate the Scottish Golf Union (SGU) and the Scottish Ladies’ Golfing Association (SLGA) after voting 97% in favour via an independent poll.
The poll – which gave all clubs affiliated to the SGU the opportunity to make a difference to the future structure of the game – saw a total of 362 clubs cast their vote, representing 58% of all clubs and eligible societies.
Answering the question ‘Should the SGU and SLGA amalgamate as detailed in the Official Proposal –Scottish Golf Amalgamation: Creating a single unified national governing body for amateur golf in Scotland?’, 351 clubs voted ‘Yes’ and only 11 voted ‘No’. Across all 16 Areas of the country, there was endorsement of the Proposal with clubs delivering a majority ‘Yes’ vote.
To ensure complete integrity and transparency of the Poll process, it was conducted by 4 global Consulting Ltd, an independent market research company.
The SGU Board and Area Golf Associations agreed to seek the views of all SGU affiliated clubs as an essential part of the amalgamation process, guiding the respective Areas on how to vote on the Proposal at an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of Scottish Golf Union Limited.
The EGM has now been confirmed for Monday, March 30, 2015 at the centrally-located Stirling Court Hotel, situated at the University of Stirling campus.
Last month, the Membership of the SLGA backed the Proposal to amalgamate with the SGU after a unanimous margin of 204 – 0 at their Annual General Meeting.
SGU chairman Tom Craig said: “I’m delighted that clubs in every Area of the country have overwhelmingly supported the Proposal. This sends out a powerful message about what clubs want to help build a positive future for the game in Scotland.
“We thank all clubs for taking the time to participate in the independent Poll and we expect that the Poll, along with any local consultation process undertaken by an Area, will provide those charged with voting at the SGU EGM on 30 March with a clear mandate from their affiliated clubs.
“I look forward to seeing all 16 Area representatives in Stirling and approach this historic occasion with great optimism.”
Last year, a Joint Working Group, independently chaired by Sheriff Alastair Thornton, circulated the Proposal to all Areas, Counties and clubs in Scotland.
To meet the many challenges currently facing the game, the Proposal outlines how amalgamation can provide a platform for a new governing body to lead Scottish golf positively into the future, help clubs thrive and attract more people of all ages and gender into the sport.
Scotland’s leading male and female golfers, Stephen Gallacher and Catriona Matthew, have also backed the plans to amalgamate the two governing bodies for the future benefit of the game.
A report detailing both the local and national outcomes of the independent Poll can be found at the following link: www.scottishgolf.org/wp-content/uploads/SGU-Amalgamation-Poll-National-Results-February-2015.pdf
