McIlroy laughs off near-miss by tee shot from
behind in US Tour event
Maybe soccer isn't the only sport that can put Rory McIlroy's health in danger.
The World No. 3 was chipping near the drivable par-4 17th green during the third round of the Frys.com Open on Saturday when a missile from the tee box, courtesy of Emiliano Grillo, came flying right at McIlroy.
The Northern Irishman was possibly a mere feet from getting hit square in the head. Luckily, the ball missed McIlroy entirely, and he had a good bit of humour about the situation in the aftermath.
"It would have put me out of my misery, to be honest with you," McIlroy said of the near-miss following a 1-under 71 that dropped him to T-39.
Grillo, for his part, posted an apology regarding the incident.
