McBain off the mark with victory at Montrose

Greg McBain (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre) scored his first win of the North-east Alliance season with a three-under-par 68 at Montrose Links today.

On a miserable misty, damp day, when there were 19 No Returns,  McBain, pictured, headed a field of 94 with halves of 34 (two under par out, one under par in).
He birdied the second, fourth, sixth and 13th, dropping only one shot to par, at the third.
Runner-up on 69 was reinstated amateur Tony Robertson (Peterculter) with halves of 36 and 33. Highlight of Tony's card was an eagle at the par-5 sixth, backed up with birdies at the 10th, 15th and 18th.
Murcar Links tour pro Terry Mathieson filled third place with a 70, made up of 17 pars and a birdie at the 13th.
Mathieson finished  - two ahead of Craig Lawrie and Philip McLean, both Paul Lawrie Golf Centre players.
Craig will have bragging rights in the Lawrie household tonight - dad Paul had a 75
