event, 24 under par for 54 holes

Dornoch exile Jimmy Gunn this week won the Gateway Tour's Q School Prep Classic at Southern Dunes Golf Club near Phoenix, Arizona.
Gunn produced some of the lowest scoring of his career, finishing 24 under par for the 54-hole event with rounds of 68, 63 and 61 for 192 to win by $6,000 first prize by five strokes.
Gunn's third round was a course record with halves of 29-32. On the outward half he birdied seven holes in succession, from the second to the eighth.  After the turn he had further birdies at the 10th and 13th and an eagle 2 at the 14th.
In that round he had only 26 putts.
The Highlander also reduced the Southern Dunes inward half to 29 shots in his second round.
Over the 54 holes he had one bogey,  the 16th in his first round.
