HAGGS CASTLE TRIO GO TO CYPRUS AS 

SCOTTISH CLUB CHAMPIONS

The Haggs Castle Golf Club, Glasgow trio of Paul Gault, Barry Hume and Craig Morrison won themselves a trip to Cyprus for the European final when they won the Scottish club championship final at Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club today.

Gault had the best 36-hole aggregate of 139 with rounds of 69 and 70.

Hume, pictured on his way to winning the Leven Gold Medal tournament earlier this summer,  finished fifth individually on 142 (72-70) and Morrison was only a shot behind Barry in a tie for sixth place on 143 with rounds of 69 and 74.

So that excellent grouping gave Haggs Castle a team total fo 278 - five shots ahead of runners-up Hamilton (283) with Nairn third on 287, three shots ahead of Angus qualifiers, Royal Montrose..

North-east qualifiers Hazlehead finished ninth

The European Final will be played from October 22 to 24 at Minthis Hills Golf Club, Cyprus.
