Brook Smith and Rikki Dunn through to quarter-finals at Aberdeen Links

Aberdeen Links championships' Murray Cup defending champion, Brook Smith, continued his quest to retain the trophy when beating fellow Caley member, Alan Hunter 3 and 1 in the first round of the matchplay stages.  Also through to the quarter finals is top seed, Ricki Dunn (Bon Accord) who had a comfortable 7 and 5 victory over Norman Stewart of the Northern.

In the Handicap Shield, top seed John Duff fell at the first hurdle losing to the Caley’s Levi Ross. Ross laid the foundation for his 4 and 3 victory with successive birdies at the 7^th, 8^th and 9^th and will now play former Links Secretary Stewart Allison for a place in Wednesday’s semi-finals.
