FLEMING WINS WLM GOLF CLASS 1 

HANDICAP ORDER OF MERIT

David Fleming (Portlethen) won the WLM Golf-sponsored North-east Alliance Class 1 Handicap Order of Merit with something to spare in the end, writes Colin Farquharson.

Second-placed David Mackay (Hazlehead), joint secretary of the Alliance, failed to mount a challenge at Craibstone with a points-scoring performance in the second round of the championship.
Only the top five and ties in the Class 1 returns scored points in this season-long competition on a 250-200-150-100-50 scale.
Fleming started the final counting event with a 75pt lead over Mackay and that's how it finished because neither scored any additional points at Craibstone on Wednesday.
Charlie Cassie (Nigg Bay), who headed the Class 1 net returns at Craibstone with a net 64 off seven, leapfrogged over Martin Forster (Cruden Bay) to fill third place on 850pt in the final standings.
