JAY TAYLOR TOP SCOT IN RAIN-HIT ALGARVE EVENT

Jay Taylor, joint fourth with a five-under-par 67, was the highest placed Scot in this week's Algarve Pro Tour competition, the Alamos Classic, reduced to heavy rain which flooded parts of the Alamos Golf Club course.
Conor O'Neil came out of a recent slump to gain a joint 27th finish with a 72, one better than Paul Lawrie's elder son, Craig, who tied 29th with a 73.
Another pro's son, Ben Craggs, shared 32nd place on 74 while former PGA championship winner Scott Drummond, had a 76 and finished tied 41st.

Australian Daniel Gaunt beat Portugal's Ricardo Melo Gouveia in a play-off after they had tied on the seven-under 65 mark.
