Irishman Hurley plays Dutchman in Spanish final
Ireland's Gary Hurley (West Waterford) beat repeating European champion Ashley Chesters from Hawkstone Park by 3 and 2 in the semi-finals of the Spanish men's open amateur match-play championship at Jerez Golf Club, writes Colin Farquharson.
Hurley, pictured, the 16th of 32 qualifiers, beat Chesters, the 12th qualifier, by 3 and 2 to earn a place in Sunday's 36-hole final. Hurley was a student at Maynooth University. Whether he has completed his education there, I am not too sure.
The other finalist is Dutchman Jeroen Krietenmeijer who scored an upset win over the tournament favourite, Spain's No 3 seed Ivan Cantero.
Jeroen won at the 19th.
