DRUMMOND TOP SCOT IN SECOND ALGARVE PRO

TOUR EVENT OF 2015

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Former PGA champion Scott Drummond, Shrewsbury-born son of a Scottish father, was the highest-placed Scot in the latest Algarve Pro Tour event, over 36 holes at Morgado Golf Club, near Portimao.
Scott had rounds of 66 and 74 for a six-under-par total of 140 over the par-73 course.

Drummond, pictured, earned £562 for figuring in a four-way tie for third place in the field of 70, two shots behind the winner of the £1,650 first prize, Londoner James Heath who had scores of 65 and 73 for 138..
Heath had plenty in hand on the day, so much so that he was able to bogey the last two holes and still have a shot to spare over compatriot Marcus Armitage (67-72 for 139). Armitage, playing out of Howley Hall, earned £1,100.
Jamie McLeary had the best second round of five-under-par 68, coming home in 32 with an eagle 3 at the long 10th and birdies at the 13th, 16th and 18th.
McLeary finished seventh on 141, having had a 73 in the first round, and earned £350.
Duncan Stewart, runner-up in the first Algarve Pro Tour event of 2015, suffered a major form slump in the second round. He was sharing the lead with Heath after a first-day, eight-under-par 65 but could do no better than a four-over 77 (38-39) in the second round for a total of 142. The Grantown-on-Spey man tied for eighth place alongside Jay Taylor (72-70).
The Australian winner of the opening event, Daniel Gaunt, was another on the 142 (72-70) mark. They all earned £300
Craig Lawrie tied for 12th place on 143 (72-71) and earned £112.
Paul's son was out in 34 but took 37 shots for the inward half.
Conor O'Neil had scores of 71-76 for 147 and finished out of the money in joint 23rd place.
