Paul Lawrie carried over his recent good form in North-east Alliance competitions to shoot a five-under-par 67 in perfect, warm playing conditions at Pestana Vila Sol golf course, Vilamoura on the Algarve today  and lead his invited guests by three shots at the halfway stage of the two-round competition.
Neil Fenwick, with a 70, was the only other player to get under the testing par of 72 on a course of some 7,000 yards.
