ELLIOT SALTMAN (70) THE ONLY 

PAR-BREAKER AT THE ROXBURGHE

Edinburgh and East of Scotland Golfers' Alliance

Despite the rain falling for a large part of the day as forecast, 78 members headed to the Borders yesterday day to tackle The Roxburghe par 72 course at Kelso.

Even with the shortened course off yellow tees to help combat the limited daylight, a tough challenge was in place and only one player suceeded in breaking par. 

 Congratulations go to Elliot Saltman (pictured) on his excellent 70 (35-35) which not only earned the top scratch prize but also secured his third trophy of the season - The Professional's Trophy.

Second scratch on 72  was shared by former Scottish amateur champion Zander Culverwell (Dunbar) (37-35) and Craig Gordon (Edinburgh Golf Centre) (35-37).

On the handicap front the top prize was shared three ways on net 74 by Paul Bradbury (Kingsknowe) (78 less 4), Colin Fraser (Peebles) (74 less 0) and Graham Hillan Strathaven (78 less 4).

Keir McNicoll (Gullane) was top trainee pro on 74.

Top senior was John Denham (Torwoodlee) with a net  76 (82 less 6)

The Scratch Order of Merit sees no change in the top three with new points totals being:

1 Neil Henderson (Renaissance) 333.

2 Chris Morris (Kingsknowe) 310.

3 Craig Gordon (Edinburgh Golf Centre) 296.5

The Handicap Order of Merit sees some changes with Walter Forsyth moving up from fourth to lead and Stuart Brown elevated from 10th to third equal.

1 Walter Forsyth (Peebles) 72

2 Phil Leggate (Musselburgh) 69.5

T3 Stuart Brown (Dunbar) 67.5

T3 David Brydon (Torwoodlee) 67.5

In two weeks (Wednesday, December 10) the East Alliance head to The Glen, North Berwick for the last outing before the festive break.
