EUROPEAN TOUR Q SCHOOL STAGE 1 REPORT, LEADING SCORES

CHRIS ROBB WITHIN QUALIFYING ZONE

WITH ANOTHER 18 HOLES TO GO

Scottish amateur champion Chris Robb (Meldrum House) from Banchory is lying joint 14th at the end of the third round of the European Tour Q School Stage 1 eliminator at Frilford Heath Golf Club, Abingdon, Oxfordshire.
He needs only to finish in the leading 23 and ties after 72 holes to progress to Stage 2 at one of the four venues in Spain.
Robb matched the par of 72 in the third round for a running total of four-under 212 but he had only two birdies - and they came after the turn - compared to a bag of eight over the first two rounds.
Score of the day came from a Scot, Jay Taylor, who conjured up a seven-under-par 65 after earlier efforts of 77 and 78. Taylor had eight birdies in halves of 32-33. But he is still only joint 50th and unlike to make the qualifiers for Stage 2.
The third Scot in the field, Magnus Eilertsen shot a 77 for 233.
Leading the field is American Charlie Harrison on 13-under-par 203, two ahead of England's Ryan Brown with Welshman Mark Laskey in third place on 206.
