WILL STILL BE A VICE CAPTAIN AT RYDER CUP

NOW STRICKER IS ADDED TO USA TOUR

DISABLED LIST: OUT UNTIL DECEMBER

Add another American name to the disabled list.
With his FedEx Cup playoff streak about to end, Steve Stricker told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that multiple injuries will keep him out of competition for nearly the remainder of the year.
"Sounds like I've got a back and hip issue," Stricker wrote in a text. "Going to shut it down till December. Rest and rehab and then try to play and see how it goes."
The 47-year-old has been dealing with a hip injury for much of the summer, and two weeks ago was diagnosed with a torn labrum in his left hip. He also reportedly has herniated discs in both his back and neck.
Stricker tied for seventh earlier this month at the US PGA Championship, carding four rounds in the 60s, and despite making limited starts he finished the FedEx Cup regular season at No. 103 in points, qualifying for the postseason.
He withdrew from The Barclays, and his streak of making the Tour Championship every year since the inception of the play-off format in 2007 will end this year.
He is one of just three players to make the trip to East Lake each of the last seven years, along with Phil Mickelson and Hunter Mahan.
Two weeks ago Tom Watson named Stricker as his third and final Ryder Cup assistant captain, a role he will still fulfil despite the injuries.
Any chances of Stricker filling in as a last-minute substitute player at Gleneagles - Watson had joked during a post-PGA news conference that he told Stricker to "bring his clubs to Scotland" - appear to have decreased from slim to none.
Stricker is the latest high-profile American player to battle injury, with the Ryder Cup just six weeks away.
Matt Kuchar withdrew from the PGA Championship because of a back injury, while herniated discs in his neck will keep Jason Dufner sidelined indefinitely.
Last week, Tiger Woods announced he was withdrawing his name from consideration for a captain's pick after back injuries plagued him for much of the season.
