WEB,COM TOUR EVENT LEADER SHOT A BOGEY-FREE 64

JIMMY GUNN T15 AFTER A 69

 IN CLEVELAND OPEN

FROM THE WEB.COM TOUR WEBSITE
WESTLAKE, Ohio – Max Homa carded a bogey-free 64 on to take a two-shot lead in the first round of the inaugural Cleveland Open.
First out in the afternoon wave off the first tee, the 23-year-old from Valencia, California, made four birdies on the front nine and added three more on the back at the tight and tree-lined par-71 Lakewood Country Club.
Turning in scores of 66 on a picture-perfect, 70-degree day in northern Ohio were Jeff Curl and South Korean teenager Si Woo Kim. Another shot back at 67 are Texan Franklin Corpening and Tom Gillis of Michigan.
Nine others are knotted together at 3-under 68 and tied for sixth place.
In a field of 156 players, Dornoch exile Jimmy Gunn is T15 on 69 after birdies at the fourth, seventh, 10th and 13th, offset by bogeys at the short fifth and 17th.
Homa is seeking his second win in the last three Web.com Tour events. The 2013 NCAA individual champion out of the University of California-Berkeley captured the BMW Charity Pro-Am on May 18.
