FINDLAY SLUMPS ON FINAL INWARD HALF IN MOROCCO
Jordan Findlay was heading for a top 10 finish in the Mogador Open until
he had a disastrous run on the inward half of his final round in the
German PGA Developmental Tour's 54-hole event at Essaouira on Morocco's
Atlantic coastline.
Findlay, out in one-under-par 35, was making good headway until he
bogeyed the 12th and 13th, ran up a double bogey 6 at the 14th and then
bogeyed the 15th and 16th for an error-strewn inward half of 42.
The Fraserburgh man, playing out of the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre,
finished with rounds of 75, 73 and 77 for nine-overt-par 225 and joint
25th place behind the runaway winner, Germany's Marcel Sneider who
scored 68, 71 and 70 for seven-under 209 to win by five shots from
compatriot Max Kramer (71-74-69).
Walker Cup man Nathan Kimsey, making his debut as a pro, did well to
finish joint third on 215 with scores of 70, 76 and 69.
Philip McLean (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre) and Pollok's Conor O'Neil missed
the 36-hole cut.
