ANGUS WIN INTER-DISTRICT BOYS' EVENT AT ELGIN AFTER LAST NINE HOLES ARE WASHED OUT

Angus pipped North-east by two shots for the team title after the Inter-district boys' invitational tournament at Elgin Golf Club today was reduced from 36 to 27 holes because the course was starting to flood in places after heavy rain for most of the day.
At the end of the morning foursomes over 18 holes, North-east (221) led by a shot from Angus (222) with North (231) lying third.
When the afternoon singles were cut to nine holes, Angus leapfrogged over North-east with a best seven from eight tally of 272 to their rivals' 275.
So Angus won the tournament with a total of 494 to North-east's 496 with North third on 505.
Ray Gordon (Alford) won the individual prize for his nine-hole score of 34. Second, with a 36, was Lewis Anderson (Deeside). He had a better last six holes than Cameron Franssen (Inverness) who also covered the nine holes in 36.
