IT LOOKS LIKE AN ANGLO-FRENCH BATTLE FOR UNDER-14S TROPHY

It's an Anglo-French battle for title

The Reid Trophy is turning into a French takeover. The destination of the title is likely to be a cross channel affair with a round left after a difficult second day at North Hants.
Antoine Kuoch, who led the first round by a stroke, went round in 71 for 138, two under par, to open a five shot lead over his compatriot Niklas Lacroix, who also shot 71, but there are three English players and a Scot on 144 in striking distance should the leaders falter.
Kuoch had three birdies in his 71 as did Lacroix, the 14 year old from the La Boulie club in Versailles. He was out in 33 and looking to close on his compatriot but a run of three successive bogeys from the 12th and another at 17 hauled him back.
Of those on 144, James Bowen, who was second overnight just one off the lead, slipped back with 76, as did Scotland’s Keith Bowman with 74. But Tom Charley (pictured, copyright Leaderboard Photography), the 14 year old from Coventry, posted a second 72 off five handicap.
Starting from the tenth, he had an early birdie at the 12th and was still one under through 15. But three successive bogeys from the 16th saw him out in 37. However, he came back in level par and said: “It could have been worse and it could have been better. But I’ll just have to shoot a good round tomorrow,” added the junior champion at Stoneleigh Deer Park.
The cut came at 156, 16 over par with 74 players surviving for the final round.
