Chris Kelly upheld the 'horses for courses' theory by repeating today (Tuesday) his win of last year in the Strathaven Golf Club pro.
Twelve months ago, Kelly had to share the honours with Mark Kerr but this time round it was a case of "Anybody here seen Kelly?" - he won, if not out of sight, certainly by a very comfortable margin of three strokes.
The 36-year-old Cawder tour pro improved on his 2012 score of 66 with a six-under-par 65 which included seven birdies, coming at regular intervals, and only one bogey, at the 17th but he immediately bounced back with birdie No 7 at the 18th.
So Chris, who had come into the event on a roll - three successive top-four finishes, scored his first win of the season and collected the first pro prize of £1,200, boosting his season's earnings on the Tartan Tour alone to around £3,700.
Of the four men who shared second place on 68, Stephen Gray (Hayston), David Orr (Mearns Castle) and Graham Fox (Clydeway Golf) all have five birdies apiece but also two bogeys each.
Craig Ronald (Carluke) and Paul McKechnie (Braid Hills) shot four birdies each offset by a bogey apiece.
Jason McCreadie (Buchanan Castle), who had a 70, piloted the Raeburn Brick Company trio of amateurs, Tom Allan (handicap 11), Jim Raeburn (16) and Colin Raeburn (3) to a net total of 18-under 53 which won them the team award by a single shot.
