ADAM DUNTON'S 61 SETS CRAIGMILLLAR PARK PACE - LEADS BY TWO AFTER ROUND 1

Aberdeeenshire's Adam Dunton set a cracking pace with a blistering,  nine-under-par 61 in the first round of the Craigmillar Park Open golf tournament in Edinburgh today (Saturday), the first of the SGU's 72-hole order of merit events of the 2013 season.
Dunton, from the McDonald Golf Club, Ellon, made the breakthrough as a Scotland cap last year and spent some time in South Africa with the national squad on warm weather practice and competition.
Preferred lies are in operation at Craigmillar Park so the official course record of 60 was never going to be in danger but that does not detract from Dunton's great figures.
He was out in 31 and home in 30, as follows:
OUT: 4 3 2 4 4 4 3 3 4 - 31
   IN: 3 2 4 3 4 3 4 3 4 - 30
Even so, on a day of generally low scoring, Dunton's effort only put him two shots clear of the far-travelling Kyle McClung from Wigtownshire County with a 63.
Steven Higgins (Gourock) was third after a 64 for the first circuit.
New Scottish U18 boys match-play champion Bradley Neil (Blairgowrie) was joint seventh on three-under 67.
Dollar's Scott Borrowman, winner of last weekend's Scottish Champion of Champions tournament at Leven, had a 70.
Defending champion Graeme Robertson (Glenbervie) did not join in the birdie-fest.
He had to be content with a three-over-par 73, the same score as another high flyer, Fraser McKenna (Balmore).
