He shot a 77 to win by one stroke from Calvin Cheyne (Newmachar), Calum Morrison (Inverurie) and Sandy Scott (Nairn). Macka7y overcame a triple bogey at the 14th to par the last four holes into the biting wind. Morrison had the consolation of winning the handicap section with a net 72 off six. The event, which was sponsored by Associated Seafoods Limited, was an opportunity for the boys to get some links practice for next week's Scottish boys' championship at Monifieth. Brian Ritchie, one of the organisers, said: "Although we hoped the boys would get a good test in their warm-up event, the weather conditions tested their sense of humour as much as their golfing ability." He continued, "I walked the course for a few holes and despite the boys barely being able to feel their hands, I still saw some tremendous shots being played. I would like to commend their commitment for turning up in these awful conditions."
