Paul Lawrie Ladies' Tour inaugural schedule is fast taking shpe

PERTHSHIRE DOUBLE HEADER FOR PLGC SLOT AT BLAIRGOWRIE, ALYTH

The Paul Lawrie Golf Centre Scottish Ladies Open Tour organisers have fixed up Blairgowrie and Alyth as a Perthshire double-header for 18-hole competitions on consecutive days this summer.

"Blairgowrie Rosemount (clubhouse pictured above) will play hosts to a field of 30 female professionals and amateurs with single-figure handicaps on July 11.

Near neighbours Alyth Golf Club will stage another stand-alone event on July 12," said co-organiser Nicola Melville, a PGA teaching professional at St Andrews.

Both Blairgowrie and Alyth are north of Perth and competitors should be able to find accommodation that will enable them to visit both courses from the same base.

Alyth is regarded as one of the hidden gems among Scotland's inland golf courses, set in heathland with fairways lined with heather, pines and silver birch.

The original nine holes were designed by Old Tom Morris for an 1894 opening and James Braid completed the extention to 18 holes in 1934.

The new non-profit tour, which is supported by the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre and by the R&A, is designed to raise the games of female professionals to a standard required to get them through the Ladies European Tour Qualifying School.

It should also give low-handicap girl amateurs the opportunity to measure themselves against the tour professionals and help them decide if and when they themselves are ready to turn pro.

The prize fund at each event is expected to be £2,500.

NOTE TO POTENTIAL COMPETITORS:
Places are limited in most events because we have been
given only tee times for 30 players.
Entries are being accepted NOW for all 14 tournaments
on the PLOT SLOT 2013 schedule on a first-come-first-served
basis.
The first 20 professional entrants for any competition will be
guaranteed a start. A reserve list will be opened after that so
that if spaces do become available for one reason or another
players will come off the reserve list in their order of entry.
The 10 amateurs with the lowest handicaps will have their
entries accepted after the amateur entry list closes a week
before a tournament date. Date of entry will be the tie-breaker
if necessary.
If the number of amateurs' places is not taken up, then these
will go to the professionals.
