RUSSELL KNOX UPBEAT ABOUT PROSPECTS OF KEEPING US TOUR CARD

Russell Knox achieved his highest finish of the 2012 US PGA Tour with joint 13th place in the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children event at Las Vegas, Nevada.
He earned $72,500 - twice as much as his previous highest in what has been a disappointing season for the Jacksonville Beach, Florida-based man from Inverness.
But Russell probably did not know whether to laugh or cry at the finish because he bogeyed the 11th, 15th, 16th and 18th for an inward half of 39 and a one-over-par 72 in his final round for a total of 273 - 13 shots more than the winner, Ryan Moore (61-68-65-66  for 24-under 260).
Knox desperately needs the money because he is 187th on the money list with a total of $237,234 and unless he can make rapid progress up that table over the handful of tournaments he has left, Russell will lose his playing rights on the US Tour.
He has earned an addition $41,250 from five web.com tour appearances.
Knox told Scottishgolfview.com by E-mail this evening:

"The top 125 keep their full card and the top 150 maintain some US PGA Tour status. I've got three more events to get up into that top 125, so I've got to get something going. But I am feeling good about my chances."
