BEN MURRAY WINS NORTH-EAST DISTRICT U18 BOYS MATCH-PLAY

Ben Murray (Portlethen) beat namesake Scott Murray (Inchmarlo) by two holes in the final of the Paul Lawrie Foundation North-east District Under-18 boys' championship at Auchmill Golf Club, Aberdeen this afternoon.

In the morning semi-finals, Ben Murray beat Ray Gordon (Alford) by 8 and 6, while Scott Murray beat Sam Kiloh (Portlethen), winner of the district boys' stroke-play title on Thursday, at the 23rd hole.

Final - Ben Murray beat Scott Murray 2 holes.


Fintan McKenna (Royal Aberdeen), pictured above by Iain Powell, won the Paul Lawrie Foundation North-east District Under-14 boys' stroke-play championship after he and Thomas M Cameron (Fraserburgh) had headed the field with rounds of 80 at Auchmill GC today.
McKenna was declared the champion on a card countback.
Ellis Roberts (Cruden Bay) finished third with 81 - five shots ahead of the two boys on the 86 mark: Cameron Fraser (Oldmeldrum) and Kiran Nolan (Kemnay).
Callum Scott (Kemnay), playing off 25, had the lowest net score of 69, a shot ahead of Fintan McKenna, who has 10 of a handicap at Royal Aberdeen, and another Balgownie boy, Cameron Black who has 17 of a handicap.
