HOWIE LEADS COOPER JUNIOR MASTERS

Peebles' Craig Howie today recaptured the form that won him the Paul Lawrie Scottish boys' championship at Murcar Links in April. The teenager, pictured by Cal Carson Golf Agency, shot a three-under-par 69 to lead a quality field of 132 in the first round of the Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters at Nizells Golf Club, Kent.
Next best Scots with three rounds to go over the weekend are Bradley Neil (Blairgowrie), Lawrence Allan (Alva) and Anthony Blaney (Liberton), all bracketed in 11th place on 73.
Alan Waugh (Cowglen) squeezed into the top 20 with a 74, one shot ahead of Angus Carrick (Douglas Park).
Cawder's Jamie Savage is joint 42nd after a 76.
Two Scots failed to break 80 - Alexander Wilson (Renaissance) who hit that mark to be joint 93rd and Euan Walker (Kilmarnock Barassie) who is joint 105th after an 81.
