DOHERTY HAS A CHANCE OF £10,000 PRIZE AT COLLINGTREE

South Wales-based Scot Paul Doherty is in with a shout of landing the jackpot £10,000 prize after the third and final round in this week's PGA EuroPro Tour event, the WSL Open at Collingtree Golf Club, Northampton.
The former Scottish boys match-p;lay championship shot 66-71 for seven-under-par 137 and goes into Friday's final round in joint fourth place, two shots behind joint leaders James Hepworth (66-69) and James Webber (66-69).
Doherty could have been even better placed because he had double bogey 6s at the 12th and 16th amidst a flurry of birdies.
Reinstated amateur Graham Gordon (Newmachar), a former Scottish amateur champion and past Walker Cup player, is joint 21st on 140 with rounds of 73 and 68.
Zack Saltman (Archerield) shot 71 and 70 for 141 and a share of 26th place.
The cut-off mark was 143 and better which eliminated John Hendry (Clydebank and Dist) on 146 (71-75), Ed Wood (Crow Wood on 151 (78-73), Greg Nicolson (Mortonhall) also on 151 (77-74), Myles Cunningham on 152 (75-77) and Mark Rae (Aberdeen Door Systems) on 163 (79-84)
