KELLETT, NICOL BEAT CUT BUT NOT McLEAN IN SLOVENIAN OPEN

Motherwell's Ross Kellett and Kris Nicol (Fraserburgh) made it through to Saturday's third and final round of the Alps Tour's Slovenian Open at the unpronounceable Ptuj Golf Club but Peterhead's Philip McLean missed the 36-hole cut by 10 shots.
Kellett had four birdies, including the last two holes for a par-matching second round of 71 and a two-under tally of 140. He is joint 10th, eight shots behind the leader by three, England's Chris McDonnell who has had scores of 68-64 for 132. McDonnell has never won as a professional.
Nicol had a double bogey 6 at the 10th on his way to a 75 for 147 and is sharing 42nd place on the limit mark for qualifying
McLean had a nightmare opening round of 82 with one triple bogey and three double bogeys. A good night's sleep did not improve his situation - he began his second round with a quadruple bogey 8 and finished with a 75 for 157. Players with two-round scores of 147 or better qualified for the final round.
