BRORA BEAT DEESIDE IN NORTHERN COUNTIES CUP FINAL

Home favourites, Brora, dug deep into their local course knowledge to win the B D Fraser Senior Northern Counties Cup for a third time on their James Braid Sutherland links with an eventual eight hole result over Deeside.

Brora's first couple  of scratch player Jim Miller and three handicapper Iain Grant held all the aces against Deeside's Neil Harper and Alan Gall, five up through nine holes and although taken back to three won the final two holes for their five hole supremacy.
Deeside second couple Hector Morrison and Richard Bickerton outplayed and outputted Brora's Robin Wilson and Ronnie Sim for the first nine holes and turned for home with a four hole lead.  Finding the burn on the 11^th hole was the beginning of a slide that saw the Deeside pair lose the next six holes and the final hole to end up three down in the double foursomes format.

Brora become the first Club to win three times since the competition was started in 2002 and team members Miller, Sim, and Wilson have played in all three winning years.
