DUKE'S ASSISTANT MARTIN WINS MIDLAND ALLIANCE PRIZE AT ELIE

Alan Martin, an assistant professional at The Duke's course, St Andrews, won the individual scratch prize with a fine round of level par 70 in cold and windy conditions for the Midland Alliance's Eddie Sherry pro-am at Golf House Club, Elie in Fife today.
There was a three-way tie for first place in the team competition. The Crieff quartet of assistant professional Sam McLean, six-handicapper Ken MacKenize, Dennis Ritchie, who plays off 10, and Eric Starritt, who plays off 13, won the card play-off with the best inward half.
