US PGA TOUR GIVE COMMISSIONER FINCHEM CONTRACT EXTENSION

United States PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem has been handed a new four-year contract to remain in his position until June 2016.
Finchem, 64, has been in his role since 1994 but had said he would welcome an extension to the contract which was due to expire in 2012.
Finchem is the third commissioner of the US PGA Tour after following on from Joe Dey and Deane Beman, and he recently agreed huge new nine-year deals with American broadcasters CBS and NBC.
The new contract for Finchem was agreed by a policy board containing five independent directors and four player directors.
"Tim has positioned the tour for continued growth in areas such as player prize money, charity, sponsor value and growing the game around the world and we are fortunate that he has agreed to continue as commissioner for another four years," said Victor Ganzi, the chairman of the PGA Tour policy board.
Finchem played a leading role in continuing the financial success of the US PGA Tour despite darkening financial situations in America and around the world.
"We have accomplished a lot, but there remains a great opportunity to continue to grow over the next four years," Finchem said.
"It is an honour to work in such a wonderful sport with the world's best athletes and a terrific management team. I look forward to continuing to work closely with them in the future."
Finchem also played a key part in the development of events such as The Presidents Cup, the World Golf Championships and the money-spinning FedEx Cup play-offs.
