DUDDINGSTON'S DOWNING WINS PRO'S TROPHY AT EYEMOUTH

The Edinburgh and East Alliance outing at Eyemouth saw 72 brave souls withstand a severe wind which more than tested players - especially on the putting green with a higher number of 'No Returns' than normal.
For most of the day it looked like a score of 79 was going to be the best scratch and handicap score for the day but it was bettered late in the day.
Winner of the Professional's Trophy with a net 75 was Andy Downing of Duddingston with 88 less 13. Second handicap prize was five shots further back via Steven Lees of Dalmahoy with net 80 (89 less 9).
Third handicap was shared three ways on net 81 - Daniel Airens (Falkirk Tryst) 89 less 8, Wilson Morton (Dunbar) 85 less 4 and Mike Robson (Harrison) 83 less 2.

Top Scratch prize on 77 with a fantastic level par front nine of 35, followed by a five-over 42 on the second nine went to Allyn Dick (pictured by Tom Ward Photography) of Kingsknowe. Allyn dropped five shots between 13th and 15th holes and it was a tremendous achievement to record an even par score for the other 15 holes.
Second Sratch prize with 79 was shared by Stephen Lamb of Cardrona and Andrew Marshall of Houston Driving Range.
Senior Prize was split between Ian Faser (Duddingston) 83 - 86 less three and Ian Taylor (Royal Burgess) 83 - 85 less two.
The Order of Merits have seen some changes at the top -

1. Stephen Lamb (Cardrona) - 373.5 points
2. Andrew Marshall (Houston DR) - 365 points
3. Sean McGarvey (Glencorse) - 350 points
Handicap
1. Daniel Airens (Falkirk Tryst) - 112.5 points
2. Sean McGarvey (Glencorse) - 98 points
3. Steven Dand (Pumpherston) - 94.5 points

Next week will see the players head to the Braid Hills to compete in the Annual Invitational Greensomes.
