HUTCHEON AND HENDERSON END SEASON ON WINNING NOTE

By COLIN FARQUHARSON, Colin@scottishgolfview.com
Greig Hutcheon (Banchory) and Scott Henderson (Kings Links), the top two North-east players on the Tartan Tour, combined their talents to finish the competitive season north of the Border with victory in the Glenmuir Kingsbarns better-ball competition over the Fife links today Between them they shot an 11-under-par 61 with Hutcheon (pictured right) the hero as far as birdies were concerned but Henderson (pictured left) played the anchor-man role admirably.
"Greig was in very good form, by all accounts, and his individual score would have been in the low 60s," said Scottish PGA tournament director Roy Murray.
They split the £725 first prize which gave Hutcheon a finishing total of £29,093 - bettered only by Stephen Gray (Hayston) - and Henderson ended in the season fourth on the money table with £21,669.
It was Hutcheon's seventh domestic win of the season and Henderson's fifth.
Runners-up, only a shot behind, were the Dundee pair of Kenny Hutton (Downfield) and Andrew Crerar (Panmure) who earned £500 for their 10-under 62.
Two Renaissance Club players, David Armitage and Jamie Fraser, finished third with a 63 for which they received £350.
Graham Fox (Rowallan Castle) and Paul McKechnie (Braid Hills) earned £300 for finishing fourth on 64.
Ronan Rafferty (Roxburghe), who topped the European Tour Order of Merit in 1989, and Stephen McAllister (Renaissance Club), twice a winner on the European Tour in 1990, finished joint seventh with a 66.
