ENGAND SEND THREE BOYS TO ITALIAN U16 CHAMPIONSHIP

NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE ENGLISH GOLF UNION
English Under 14 champion Bradley Moore (Kedleston Park, Derbyshire) and Under 16 Champion Jack Hermeston (City of Newcastle, Northumberland) along with Robert Burlison (Oxley Park, Staffordshire) will represent the EGU in the Italian Under 16 Championship at Biella Golf Club from August 30 to September 1.
Moore, 13, won the Under 14 Championship for the Reid Trophy by a stunning ten strokes at Porters Park recently, having been beaten in a five-way playoff for the Midland Boys Championship.
Hermeston, 15, was a popular winner of the Under 16 Championship for the McGregor Trophy at South Moor in Durham last month, having finished runner-up in the Scottish Under 16 at Forfar and losing a play-off for the Northumberland Stroke play Championship at Bedlingtonshire.
Burlison, 16, is a former English Schools Under 16 Champion who was capped at under 16 level for England last year against Ireland, Scotland and Wales. He represented the EGU in the recent European Young Masters tournament in Hungary, finishing 14th, but finished first in the Midland Boys Qualifying.
The Italian Under 16 Championship is played over 72 holes of stroke play with a cut after 36 holes, the leading 40 players and ties going forward to the final two rounds.
