FRED COUPLES PULLS OUT OF THIS WEEK'S US SENIOR PGA

FROM THE GOLF.COM WEBSITE
Citing back problems, Fred Couples, winner of the 1992 Masters and enjoying a second career as a senior, has withdrawn from the $2million United States Senior PGA Championship, starting at Valhalla Golf Club, Kentucky on Thursday.
Paul Azinger, who captained the U.S. to an emotional Ryder Cup win at Valhalla Golf Club in 2008, has also withdrawn without giving a reason.
Joey Sindelar (back), Tom Wargo (back), Andy Bean (family illness), Kentucky native Russ Cochran (wrist) and Blaine McCallister (family illness) have also dropped out of the over-50s' tournament. McCallister had replaced Fred Couples.
Taking the spots of those six players are John Harris, Matt Seitz, Trevor Dodds and PGA Club Professionals Dave Kendall, Mark Keating and Mark Johnson.
Wargo was the last PGA club pro to win the Senior PGA.
Steve Pate, who turns 50 on Thursday, the first day of competition, will be making his senior debut at the tournament.

SPECTATORS CAN TAKE CELL PHONES ON THE COURSE!
The PGA of America announced in March that fans attending the 2011 Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid will be permitted to bring cell phones into the Championship.
Spectators will be allowed to use mobile devices/cellular phones for incoming and outbound calls in designated areas. They may receive and send text messages and check data on the golf course away from play.
With the addition of cell phones on-site, The PGA of America and KitchenAid are adding new and exciting social media initiatives to enhance the Championship experience. Fans can participate in many of the social media initiatives by following via Facebook and Twitter to participate in promotions and become the first to receive all Championship updates.
During the Championship, spectators will be able to follow several Facebook and Twitter pages for "behind the greens" access, the most up to date scores, chances to win prizes and much more.
Don't miss a minute of the action!
facebook.com/PGAcom and @pga_com will be your non-stop source for up to date information about who is moving up and down the 2011 Senior PGA Championship leaderboard.
