MICHAEL STEWART MAKES TOP

100 WORLD RANKING

Winning the Allied Surveyors Scottish amateur championship has boosted Michael Stewart into the RandA World Amateur Golf Rankings.
The Troon Welbeck player has gone up 49 places to No 96, joining James Byrne (No 13) and Ross Kellett (No 56) in the top 100 for the first time.
But beating top seed Byrne and making a good game of it in the 36-hole final against Stewart still leaves runner-up Jordan Findlay languishing in 913th position, albeit a rise of 73 places.
Jin Jeong, the Australia-based South Korea who beat Byrne in the British amateur championship final remains No 1 ahead of American Peter Uihlein.
The only British or Irish player ahead of Byrne is the new English champion, Tommy Fleetwood whose success raised him seven places to No 9.
David Law, who relinquished the Scottish title at Gullane, plummeted 250 places as a result to No 640. Sic transit gloria, or something like that!
