DEAR'S GREAT FINISH ON ALPS TOUR

Gavin Dear staged a storming finish to finish joint fifth in the Alps Tour's Peugeot Classic at Prunevill Golf Club, Sochaux in France today.
A top 10 place looked beyond the former Walker Cup player when he began with rounds of 73 and 71 but a five-under-par score of 67 - one of the lowest rounds of the day - hoisted him up to within two shots of the winner of the 5,800 Euros top prize, Spain's Agus Domingo, who had scores of 69, 69 and 71 for sevenpunder 209.
Dear's five-under total of 211 earned him 1,820 Euros.
Dear is lying sixth in the Alps Tour's Order of Merit with earnings of 19,808 Euros from 14 events.
The other Perthshire player in the starting field, Steven Hume, missed the 36-hole cut by eight shots with disappointing scores of 80 and 76.
