Elliot Saltman earns £1,433 for joint fourth
finish on EuroPro Tour in Ireland
Elliot Saltman earned £1,433 for finishing joint fourth in this week’s PGA EuroPro Tour event over 54 holes at Castle Dargan Golf Club on the Northwest Sligo coast of Ireland.
The Lothians man had rounds of 67, 69 and 70 for a seven-under-par tally of 206, four shots behind the £10,000 first prize winner, Englishman Ian Keenan (Royal Liverpool) with scores of 65, 70 and 67.
Saltman had a mixed bag of one eagle, four birdies, one double bogey and three bogeys on the final day but he came home in 33 to cement a top-four finish.
Tartan Tour man Jason McCreadie (Buchanan Castle) slipped past the youngest of the Saltman brothers, Zack, to finish joint 13th on 209 with scores of 69, 74 and 66. McCreadie had an incredible run of eight under par for 10 consecutive holes from the fifth to the 14th – and then dropped out of the top 10 with a double bogey 6 at the last hole.
Zack Saltman, level with brother Elliot at the start of the last round, failed to build on earlier rounds of 70 and 66. His three-over-par 74 (38-36) contained two birdies but simply too many bogeys to stay in the top 10. He finished joint 15th on 210.
Paul Doherty was joint 18th on 211 with scores of 71, 69 and 71.
Three Scots shared 21st place on 212 – Steven Duncan from Carnoustie (70-74-68), Alyth’s Kevin McAlpine (66-73-73) and Scott Henry (The Carrick on Loch Lomond) who had double bogey 6s at the 17th and 18th to finish with a 75 after earlier scores of 68 and 69.
Ellon’s Ross Cameron (Paul Lawrie Foundation) finished joint 43rd with scores of 72, 73 and 71 for 216.
Scott Herald (Mearns Castle) came 56th of the 58 qualifiers with scores of 70, 73 and 80 for 223. His finish would have made a strong man weep – triple bogey 7, bogey 5, triple bogey 7 for 42 home.
