McLeod and Lockhart tie on 72 at Monifieth Alliance

This week the Midland Golfers’ Alliance held the W. H. Miller Team competition at Monifieth Links over the Medal Course.
There was a tie for first scratch between local professional Gordon McLeod and Ladybank assistant pro Alan Lockhart, both with a score of one over par 72.
Leading handicap went to another local, nine-handicap Grange Golf Club member Peter Rhind with a net score of 66.
For the first time in Midland Alliance history, two golfers had holes in one. Graeme Paton (Dalhousie), who plays off seven, holed a five-iron tee shot at the 191yd fifth hole and Ian Wilson (Craigie Hill), who plays off five, also holed a five-iron tee shot at the 158yd 14th hole.

Kenny Hutton wins Midland Alliance title by six strokes at Montrose

The Midland Golfers’ Alliance held their annual JTC Interiors Express Championship over 36 holes of the Championship course at Montrose Links. The course and the weather were perfect and Kenny Hutton (P, Downfield) took full advantage with a stunning 8 under par 134 total, with scores of 65 and 69. Gary Tough (Letham Grange, +1) won the handicap prize with a net total of 142.
