McLean leads at halfway in Edward Trophy at Glasgow Gailes

Peterhead's Philip McLean, winner of the Leven Gold Medal 72-hole tournament last year, leads the field by one shot at the halfway stage of the Edward Trophy four-round SGU Order of Merit event at Glasgow Gailes Golf Club.

McLean had rounds of 68 and 72 today (Sat) for a four-under-par tally of 140.

That gave him a narrow advantage over another North-east traveller, Scott Larkin (Banchory) and Brian Soutar (Leven Golfing Society.

Larkin, who spent four years on the American college golf circuit, had rounds of 72 and 69 while Soutar followed up a first-round 71 with a 70.

Matthew Clark (Kilmacolm), recent winner of the Craigmillar Park Open and a previous winner of the Edward Trophy is in joint sixth place on 143 after scores of 72 and 71.
